A BUSH walker has been winched to safety by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter with a suspected broken ankle.

A woman in her 40s injured her ankle while bushwalking on an isolated track at the 'High Tops' in the Warrenbungles National Park.
"It was great teamwork by all of the emergency services to safely get the lady out and to hospital," a spokesman for the service said.
A Westpac Rescue Helicopter Critical Care Doctor and Paramedic were winched down to the isolated track to treat the patient.

The woman is in a stable condition and did not require a winch extraction.
The local State Emergency Services arrived to walk the woman out of the state forest where she will be taken to Coonabarabran Hospital.
