Chad Fisher has been selected in the Hunter region's representative side, which will compete at the NSW School Sports Association (NSWPSSA) Primary Australian Rules Championship later this year.
The Gunnedah South Public School student's grandfather, Gunnedah Aussie Rules legend Brian Lenton said Chad's selection was "reward for effort".
"I've been working with him on his skills," Lenton said.
"He has been working pretty hard so it is really good to see it pay off for him."

During the three-day championships carnival, Fisher and the Hunter side will take on eight sides from around the state in Sydney in May.
"It will be a really good learning curve for him and I know he can't wait to get into it," Lenton said.
"Given the North West region doesn't have an Aussie Rules team, Chad to follow in the footsteps of his brother Kurt and play for the Hunter side."
Lenton said Fisher had been "very dedicated" to preparing for the championships.
"He has actually been training with the Gunnedah Bulldogs senior squad for the last few weeks," he said.
"Chad really loves his footy and it should be really good to see how he goes."
