The cross-town rivals faced off for round one of the Northern Inland Premier League on Saturday and neither side managed to post points.
The match ended on nil-all with the teams splitting the ladder points. South Armidale president Joe Campbell said in the end, it was a "fair" result.
"It was a good game to watch even though it was nil-all," he said.
"It definitely hasn't happened to us for a while, it definitely didn't happen last year. Sounds boring but it wasn't."
Campbell said it was a tough hit out for both sides and they were happy to at least take one point away from it.
"The guys realised Norths are a good team and it is not going to be easy for anyone playing them this year. Home games, you love to win them but sometimes you take a result and one point is probably not a bad result," he said.
"It was a fair result to get and Norths are going to win more games than they will lose this year and if we can take some points off them then that is probably helping us step in the right direction."
