Taste Tamworth: Kicking off on Friday night, the city will be abuzz with culture and cuisine as the ten day Taste Tamworth Festival gets underway with the Pop-Up on Fitzroy at 7pm.
The Fitzroy Plaza will be transformed into a foodie haven, with residents and visitors spoiled for choice with plenty of market stalls offering a variety of food and drink options, perfectly paired with live entertainment.
On Sunday the foodie fair continues with Taste in The Park showcasing the best fresh produce from all over the region. The event starts at 10am in Bicentennial Park, and also included a Garden Bar serving refreshments, while there is also plenty of entertainment for the kids.
Sporting mecca: If food affairs isn't your thing and you would rather settle for a sausage sandwich, cold beer and close contest than Saturday is a smorgasbord of sporting events.
The Tamworth Magpies will be sure to bring in a big crowd for their annual Headspace Day clash against St Albert's college raising funds for the local mental health service.
The Magpies will also be looking to make it two on the trot following a good win over the Barbarians last week in the New England competition.
Across town reigning premiers Pirates will begin their Central North rugby defence with a huge clash against Quirindi that is close to the heart of both clubs.
The game will also be a fundraiser for former player of both clubs, Harrison Frear, who was left without feeling from the chest down following a car accident last year.
If football isn't your thing the Tamworth Baseball Association is hosting a huge come-and-try day at Riverside on Saturday from 12.30pm.
Wheels and trainers: For those wishing to either push their body to the limit, or have more of a socially active day out both the Pedal The Peel and Trail Blazer events are being held on Sunday morning.
The annual Pedal the Peel offers cyclists four different distances from a leisurely 15km right through to the 100km race, starting and finishing with a carnival atmosphere at the Moore Creek Tennis Club, and raising funds for four local charities.
Meanwhile at the Oxley Lookout the second annual Trail Blazer will push athletes all the way with 15, 30 and 45km loops of Flagstaff Mountain and the surrounding trails.
