They re-entered Group 19 in the newly-introduced second division competition and went on to win the men's title.
But the Spuds won't be returning to the field this year to defend their trophy.
Only two or three men have been turning up to pre-season training and the club was forced to withdraw, leaving their committee and the community "disappointed."
"We had good fun and good sponsors coming through but no players," president Mick Wilson said.
"A fair few community members are disappointed, I know that but we will have to try again another day."
The Spuds had already appointed a coach for the men's team in former first grade premiership winner Luke Hutton, and Britt Youman as the captain-coach for the league tag.
While there were numbers for the women's league tag team, without a men's team they are not able to compete.

"I don't know what everyone is doing but a few players couldn't commit because they are busy, like Dan Vidler started up a new business so it was a bit hard for him to commit," Wilson said.
"A few other players have had babies and that sort of thing.
"I have a fair idea where some players have gone but I don't really want to go there."
Wilson is hopeful the club will be resurrected in the future with talented young guns coming through the junior club.
"I don't know if I will be able to commit but hopefully someone will pick the ball up," he said.
"They are going to have to because there are a few good fellas coming through in the next few years in under 18s and 16s.
"It will happen one day because in 2022 is our 100 year anniversary so something will happen by then maybe, hopefully."
Although the news is sad for the club, Wilson applauded everyone who got behind the club.
