Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson took more than 50 per cent of the primary vote, while Adam Marshall is one of the most popular MPs in parliament after securing more than 80 per cent of the vote in Northern Tablelands.
TAMWORTH MP Kevin Anderson has successfully regained the seat for a third term, winning every booth in the electorate.
The incumbent easily held off challenges from independent Mark Rodda and Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Jeff Bacon, and will retain his seat in what looks to be a Coalition government.
Surrounded by his family and supporters on Saturday night, an emotional Mr Anderson said he was "humbled" by the result.
"I'm so grateful the Tamworth electorate has chosen to allow me to continue doing the work I've been doing in to the future," a jubilant Mr Anderson said.
"We went town by town, booth by booth, community by community, person by person.
"We worked hard for every vote.
"They've put their trust in me and I want to return that trust by working has hard as I possibly can."
Meanwhile, Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has claimed victory with what looks like an increased margin, as the counting of votes continues.
The state MP, who first won the seat at a byelection in 2013, had picked up almost 75 per cent of the vote.
Since that first win in 2013, the popular local MP has increased his vote at each election.
He first stood after former MP Richard Torbay resigned under a cloud in March 2013. The election in May saw the former Gunnedah mayor, who had moved to Armidale the year before to commence studying at UNE, elected with 63 per cent of the vote.
It was the first time the Nationals had won the seat since the mid 1990s.
Since then, Mr Marshall was re-elected four years ago with 67 per cent of the vote, and again on Saturday with what looks to be an even greater margin.
