Werris Creek Road has been voted the third worst stretch of road in the New England, while scoring as one of the worst in the state in terms of condition and safety.

Werris Creek Road, at Duri, was voted third behind the New England Highway near Uralla, and the Newell Highway between Narrabri and Moree, although while both those stretched scored 48 out of 100 for safety and condition, the Werris Creek stretch scored a measly 35, one of the worst scores in the state.
The NRMA released the results of the first Rate Your Road Survey on Friday, after 23,400 citizens from across the state had their say, with 455 New England residents casting a vote, including 111 from Tamworth.

Participants were asked to vote for the most dangerous road in their region, and then rate that road on a scale of 1-100 on both condition and safety.
NRMA director Fiona Simson was in Duri on Friday, demanding more action be taken to prevent "an already terrible" local road toll from growing.
"People in the New England have rated this road because of it's safety, and it's condition," she said.
"It's been patched multiple times, there's an enormous amount of potholes, plus the edges are in poor condition - people are saying it is unsafe."
Mrs Simson said local councils have a "huge task" upkeeping local road networks, and has called on the state and federal governments for urgent funds.
"This election people are thinking about roads," she said. When the state government has enough money to splash around on stadiums in the city we also need to see a similar injection into local road infrastructure."
Recently the Werris Creek road has caught the attention of politicians with Barnaby Joyce announcing $470,000 last month under the 2019-20 Black Spot program, while the upcoming state election has also seen Kevin Anderson promising a $10 million upgrade, only if he is re-elected.
