Hissy Fits owner Claire Rice has been witnessing a "slow cultural revolution" over the last ten years, and is hoping to boost that change when her new shop opens next month.
Hissy Thrifts, as the name suggests, is a thrift store offshoot of Peel Street cafe Hissy Fits, with owners Ms Rice and Jordan Kachel pulling the trigger on "a pipe dream" after a space next door to the cafe came up for rent.
"We opened Hissy Fits in January last year and have already seen massive growth - we have a great little cult following because we are a little bit different," Ms Rice said.
"We are both very passionate about second hand clothes and always talked about opening a thrift shop after the cafe, but when we saw this space come up for lease, we thought let's do it."

Hissy Thrifts will be a far cry from the traditional second hand clothing stores, instead having a focus on 1960's to 1990's threads, and an emphasis on good fashion, and quality clothing at an affordable price.
Ms Rice believes that Tamworth, and its residents, are already in the process of transforming into a modern day city, and hopes the new store can help keep things moving along.
"It hasn't been too hard to source some great clothing locally, but we have also been sourcing items from Newcastle and Sydney as well," she said.
"I think a lot of people in Tamworth aren't quite brave enough to try new things, so we will do the hard work for them, and take that step to make second hand fashion mainstream.
"Young families are relocating to Tamworth all the time - it is becoming a destination and we want to contribute to that ideal."
