Nick Kay has capped off a sensational debut season with the Perth Wildcats by being named in the All-NBL First Team.

Fresh from a 22-point haul in their final game loss to Melbourne United, the Tamworth product was named as one of the two inside players at Sunday’s NBL Gala Dinner after polling 32 votes.
He is joined in the First Team by Andrew Bogut (inside), who took home the Andrew Gaze Trophy as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Casper Ware (outside), Lamar Patterson (outside) and Wildcat’s team-mate Bryce Cotton (outside).
It is only the third time in the Wildcats’ history that two players from the club have been named in the prestigious team together.
Kay has been outstanding for the club since joining them from the Illawarra Hawks this season.
The power forward has scored 11 double-doubles and averages 15.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, putting him in the top three in each category.

He was also in the reckoning for the competition’s for Most Improved Player.
Brisbane’s Reuben Te Rangi, who was also adjudged the Best Sixth Man, topped the votes with 40.
Kay was equal third with 22.
The 26-year old previously won the Rookie of the Year award back in 2015-2016 when playing for the Townsville Crocodiles.
Tamworth Basketball administrator Peter McDonald said it was an “outstanding achievement” adding that Kay is an inspiration for any young player wanting to go further with their representative basketball.
