Charles May was named Nundle’s senior citizen of the year for his work with a number of organisations in the village.
Mr May has served on the health advisory committee, the committee of Nundle aged care units and while still involved in the Rural Fire Service.
He has also assisted with Meals on Wheels, been a transport driver, and has assisted many seniors by providing information on relevant services.
Harvey Warden and Lynn Leslie were also recognised for their work in Nundle.
The council will hold awards ceremonies at the Manilla town hall on Tuesday, the Barraba day centre on Wednesday and the Tamworth community centre on Friday.
Mayor Col Murray said it was important to honour the valuable gift of time many seniors gave throughout the community.
“The most valuable thing that someone can give is their time,” Cr Murray said.
“This week we especially acknowledge our senior citizens across the Tamworth region for the time, effort and generosity they provide to others in their day-to-life.
“Your contribution to the community, especially our elderly community, is very valuable and we would like to offer you a formal and well-earned thank you.”
