The fire-damaged, asbestos-ridden house on Northbrook Lane in Manilla will be torn down within the month after councillors voted in favour of demolishing the local eye-sore in a closed meeting on Tuesday night.
Councillor and Manilla-local Jim Maxwell was pleased to see the end of the saga.

He said the house burnt down "about a decade ago" leaving behind a "hell of a mess" ever since and believed it was used as a "drug den occasionally".
The councillor was disappointed it had taken so long to resolve the issue.
"The neighbours in the area have had to put up with that inconvenience for a number of years," he said.
"It has been fenced-up but rubbish has been growing and the asbestos is always a problem.
"It's good to see it all come to an end."
Despite the protracted efforts to resolve the issue, Cr Maxwell said there would be some silver lining to the demolition.
"It'd be a valuable block of land, it's only a block-and-a-half from the main street," he said.
"People are looking for blocks of land in Manilla."
The council has had two previous votes on the house scuttled after last minute contact from the property's owner. It is understood demolition will happen within the month.
