NRMA Tamworth supports a local charity each year – this time it was Share The Dignity – and over Christmas the branch called on customers to donate toiletries and necessities for women in need.
And they did just that.
“We find our customers are very generous. We’ve had a lot of support and Priceline came on board which was a big help,” NRMA’s Crista Stevens said.
Share The Dignity – which brings dignity to homeless, at-risk and those experiencing domestic violence through the distribution of sanitary items and funding of funerals – had their official It’s In The Bag campaign at the end of last year.
The donations for Tamworth were slightly down on previous years and local volunteer Annie Turner said the influx of donations from NRMA, along with a partnership with Tamex which has also helped, was timely.
”The donations from the NRMA will very much boost our collection from last year and they’re in the process of being delivered to charities now,” she said.
Share The Dignity will have local drives in April and August where collection boxes will be set up around Tamworth where sanitary products can be donated.
