The council’s permanently installed waste and recycling bins have been put under wraps for the duration as it deals with the influx of rubbish which comes with festival.
Waste director Bruce Logan said there was a need for bigger bins on Peel Street and rolled out wheely-bins along the drag.

“All of the fixed bins on Peel Street have been covered-over for this festival,” he said.
“They get filled up very quickly and it also makes it harder for the staff to service them regularly.”
Mr Logan said litter wasn’t a big problem, but the amount of non-recyclable material tossed in the yellow bins needed to be addressed.
“The contamination rates could always be better,” he said.
“If the contamination is a level where Challenge won’t take that bin, that means that whole bin’s contents go into the landfill.”
