He’s also a knight. And he raps.
Appointed for services to entertainment in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, Sir Rowles carries his title with pride.
“My journey has been quite long,” he said.
“But this has really completed it, it was quite cool when they put the sword on my shoulders.
“I’m enjoying it really, it’s strange but a lot of people respect it and love it, in the Commonwealth countries it’s quite a big deal.”
The chanteuse hails from the Bay of Plenty town in Kawerau, he left school at 15-years-old.
There’s no mistaking his booming voice.
“My style of music is very versatile, I sing massive ballads because I started out in the big singer era,” he said.

“I’m always working on originals, I think that’s the only way to make it, it’s tough today because the trends are changing.
“But I don’t worry about that, I just write magic and the rest works.”
Mr Rowles has one show at Blazes Showroom on Wednesday at 1:30pm.
