It comes after some strong performances with both bat and ball for Central Northern in the U14 Country Championships in Albury from January 7-10.
It’s an impressive achievement for the 13-year-old, as the team represents the entire central north and north coast area.
“I was pretty bloody happy,” Montgomery said when he found out he was selected.

He was selected to Country Sixers Northern last year, but said the field of players at the Albury Country Championships were very strong this year.
“I’m pretty excited. I didn’t know if I was going to make it this year,” he said.
“This year there were some pretty good players, a few of them I’d never met and they were pretty good so I didn’t know if I was going to make it this year.”
“But I just bowled pretty well, with the bat I got some runs so you just perform down there, you make the team.”
Montgomery says he’s mainly been a bowler this year but he’s also a keen batsman.
“I just do what I get told to do.”
The competition begins on Monday, January 21 and runs through to Thursday, January 24.
