The annual week-long holiday program kicked off at the Gunnedah High School on Monday, with activities for all ages from 9.30am-11.30am.
“It’s been nice to see people back from last year and a few new faces,” Summerfest co-director Ben Davis said.
In kids club, there are songs, games and Bible stories as they explore the concept of superheroes. In the teens section, youth are playing games and looking at the Bible together.
Adults can head along to the Summerfest Cafe where they can catch up over a cuppa and home-baked goodies. Parents can have a kid-free morning, with child-minding available.
On Monday night, country music will be the top of the agenda at the family bush dance from 5.30pm at the high school. Other key events during the week include a kids afternoon extravaganza and ladies night on Wednesday, and blokes barbecue on Friday.
The ladies night is a high tea, with a chance to see wedding dresses from across the decades. At the blokes barbecue, there will be a “meat taste-off”, with participants invited to try various unlabelled meats and guess which is which.
Summerfest is run by a group of volunteers from Canberra and Sydney.
