The eight-wicket triumph means Tamworth are in second place on the ladder, behind Gunnedah, with one round remaining.
Tamworth, who have a bye in the final round, are on 14 points – one point ahead of third-placed Narrabri.
If reigning champions Narrabri win their final-round away clash against Armidale on February 10, they would play Gunnedah in the final.

But even if they lose, the one point they would pick up might be enough to relegate Tamworth to third place, if Narrabri have a superior net run rate.
Heading into Sunday’s action, Narrabri had a net run rate of 0.5619 compared to Tamworth’s -0.8200. At the time of publishing this article, the ladder had not be updated based on Sunday’s results.
At Wolseley Park on Sunday, Gunnedah beat Armidale by 91 runs, to send them to the top of the ladder as the only unbeaten side.
In Inverell, the home side won the toss and batted – their innings ending in the 36th over on 119. John Krauss (43) top-scored.
Lachlan Cooke (3-22 off five overs) had the best figures for Tamworth, while Joey Mead and Brad Redshaw both bagged two wickets.
In reply, Simon Norvill (75) and Liam Rodgers had a 93-run opening stand for Tamworth, as the visitors finished on 2-121 in the 18th over. Norvill bludgeoned three sixes and nine fours.
Tamworth batsman Brad Smith said it was a good all-round performance by the side, with Norvill well supported by teenager Rodgers, who “just ticked it over” so his more experienced teammate had most of the strike.
