And now, following West Tamworth and Bective East’s successful gala day on December 22, Old Boys and City United will stage a T20 showcase of all four grades at No.1 Oval on Saturday.
Old Boys allrounder Mitchell Swain said the concept was a “fantastic idea”.
“I think they should do that as often as they possibly can,” he said.

“It’s a great concept that they’ve got.
“It allows some of those juniors and blokes that are playing second, third and fourth [grade] … it gives them a chance to play on No.1.”
Prior to the Wests-Bulls gala day, Wests president Kristian Grattan, a lower-grade player, said: “I’ve played cricket in Tamworth for 12 years and I’ve never had a game on No.1 Oval. So I’m pretty excited about it myself.”
Norths captain Michael Rixon said his brother, fellow Redback Michael, came up with the gala day concept.
On Saturday, the fourth-grade game is scheduled to start at 10am, to be followed by third, second and first grades.
The first-grade clash, between the two top-ranked sides, is slated to commence at 7pm.
