First, Jones struck a 52-ball 74, including three sixes and seven fours, to propel the Bulls to 7-138. Opener Jye Paterson made a 40-ball 45.
Bowling spin, Middlebrook claimed 4-13 off three overs and then scored 22 in a vital 36-run partnership with Adam McGuirk (39-ball 46). Old Boys passed Bective’s total with a ball to spare, to record their fourth straight win. “We’re slowly getting better bit by bit,” Middlebrook said.
At Riverside 3 on Saturday, City United rebounded immediately from a rare loss, by defending 8-105 after restricting North Tamworth to 7-100.
