The 40-year-old Gunnedah woman was injured when she fell on the Oxley Highway on New Year’s day.
Police are yet to speak to the woman but believe she fell from a small white sedan while it was travelling, 10km out of Gunnedah, between 12.20 and 12.30pm.
The driver of the sedan “is assisting police with their inquiries”, police said.
Oxley Detective Acting Inspector Jason Darcy told the Leader the circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, but no charges had been laid.
“The woman was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle with head injuries, where she remains,” he said.
“Inquiries are continuing and we are waiting to speak to the woman as part of the investigation.
“Police would appeal for any motorist who was travelling in that area at the time and saw a vehicle matching that description to come forward, especially anyone with dashcam footage.”
Inquiries are continuing and we are waiting to speak to the woman as part of the investigation.
