A patient start to the race from jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor helped set up the win with the six-year-old gelding saving his best efforts for the home straight.
O’Neile said the win was a just reward for his horse.
“He’s been knocking on the door for some time now,” O’Neile said.
“Recently he did take the Walcha Cup and following that we did have our eyes open for the next one.
“He has put in some solid performances of late and was building up to this one.
“It was a great run and really pleasing to watch.”

Despite being earmarked as a 1600 metre horse, O’Neile conceded the 1400 metre distance suited Try ‘N’ Run A Muck better.
“I will say this, he proved me wrong today [Tuesday],” O’Neile said.
“I thought he was a miler and that this distance may not suit him. However, he certainly proved me wrong here today and did it well.”
O’Neile praised Wilson-Taylor for his efforts helping guide the six-year-old to victory.
“Personally I think that was a very good ride from that young man,” he said.
“I think he sat where he needed to throughout the early part of the race and knew he was always going to finish strong.
“Once there he was able to help push him past the post, which is very pleasing.”
Wilson-Taylor said the early goings of the race was where he was able to set up the victory.
“We got some really nice sectionals early in the race,” Wilson-Taylor said.
“I think they really helped set up the win and were probably the biggest factor.”
The young jockey said Try ‘N’ Run A Muck’s “toughness” was also a major contributor in the victory.
“He has certainly got a lot of heart,” he said.
“During the early part of the race he stayed with it and then he was able to go for it.
“He is a very tough horse and really ran his hardest just before the post. I actually had a bit of trouble pulling him up he was running that hard.”
Wilson-Taylor said he was humbled by the win.
“It is certainly the biggest win of my career to date,” he said.
“It's a great feeling and hopefully there’s more to come.”
O’Neile said he would now consider the gelding’s next potential race.
“We will have a look around,” he said.
“He has now gotten up to about $150,000 worth of prize money, which is really impressive.
“I’m sure we will consider a few options in the not too distant future and work it out from there.”
