Almost 70,000 students woke up to the sound of their future on Thursday morning as phones pinged all over the state at 6am with HSC results.

At least five local schools had students record top ten results for individual subjects, while hundreds of students across the board recorded band six results, meaning they finished in the top 10 per cent in a subject.
Calrossy once again was top of the class, with 30 per cent of the year group, across both campuses, recording band six results, as well as 27 Distinguished Achievers.
Four students finished in the top ten for an individual course, while Julia Lim was named an All Rounder for recording top band results in at least ten units.

Principal David Smith congratulated not only the entire year group, but also his entire staff.
“We are delighted with results once again – I love that country kids can get those high level results and compete with the city kids,” he said.
“This year group have been really involved in the school, the improvement and the growth has been really pleasing.”
McCarthy principal Geoff McManus was also pleased to see a “push upwards", resulting in 13 band six results.
“The school is certainly pleased with the growth we have seen at the top end of the marks,” he said.
“The students will certainly start to reap some of the rewards for the work we are doing in the junior years.”
Meanwhile Peel High student Alex Jenkins, and several of his fellow classmates also woke to the news of some top band results.
“It has been a long year, so it was really pleasing to wake up to some good news,” he said.
“In the end I got the marks I needed, so it has been worth it.”
Students ATAR rankings are being released at 6am Friday.
