A teenager has been charged after an alleged assault at Tamworth earlier this week.

About 6pm on Wednesday, officers from Oxley Police District were notified of an assault involving two males, who are known to each other.
Police will allege a 20-year-old man was with a group of males at the corner of Peel and Jewry streets when he was allegedly punched several times about 2.30pm on Tuesday.
About 3.30pm the same day, it’s alleged the 20-year-old man was further assaulted at Tamworth Railway Station.
Following inquiries, about 8.30pm yesterday, a 15-year-old boy attended Tamworth Police Station where he was arrested.
He was charged with affray (x2), and common assault (x2).
The boy was granted conditional bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

LOCAL detectives are investigating a fight in Tamworth after video of a boy being bashed went viral on social media on Wednesday night.
The video appeared to show a teenage boy striking another teenager several times in the fight believed to be in a Tamworth storage drain, near the CBD.
It’s believed the video was posted on SnapChat and then re-posted to Facebook.
The video also appears to show the victim saying “stop” and “I want to be friends”.
“No don’t, don’t, please I want to be friends,” the victim is heard to say.
On Wednesday night, Oxley police confirmed an investigation had been launched into the incident.
“Tamworth Detectives are currently investigating this incident and are caring for the victim,” Oxley Chief Inspector Phil O’Reilly posted online.
“Thank you to those persons for bringing it to our attention.”

The victim was still at the police station late on Wednesday night but The Leader has been unable to confirm his injuries.
The video had been viewed by thousands of people and had attracted more than 1000 comments and reactions from facebook users outraged at the abuse.
Chief Inspector O’Reilly confirmed investigators knew the identity of the teenager depicted in the video.
No charges had been laid on Wednesday night and investigations were continuing.
