So, he signed up to Uber to pay for his honeymoon.
One of the first to hit the road when the rideshare service launches in Tamworth on Thursday, Mr Bland has grand plans for his personalised service.
“I think it’s fantastic and I plan on using the flexibility because I work full time, and I think Tamworth Country Music Festival is a huge area for extra income,” he said.
“I’ve got a charger for Apple and Samsung phones, bottles of water in the car, Minties, Chup-A-Chups and chocolate.”
Already he’s worked four days in Newcastle waiting for the service to launch locally and said people expect Uber drivers to go the extra mile.
According to Mr Bland, most users prefer the service to taxis because of the added bonuses drivers throw in to boost their ratings.
“My wife and I use it regularly in Sydney, it’s just a convenience thing for us down there,” he said.

“We don’t have to find a number for the local taxi company or talk to the concierge, we can book it from a hotel, it’s more comfortable and personal and it’s cheaper – which is a big one.”
The company is looking for more drivers in Tamworth and encourages anyone to sign up on the website, Uber’s can be booked in town from 3pm on Thursday.
