Souths’ newly minted NSW Country captain, Tom Groth, sees no reason why they can’t get the 291 needed to beat Norths and secure for the reigning premiers their fourth straight win.

With Groth and Souths skipper Mitch Smith third and first on the run-scoring ladder, that confidence is not misplaced.
“Obviously it’s a pretty big score … but at Riverside 2, I think it’s a getable total,” Groth said. “I think everyone’s been hitting the ball pretty well. So it’s a good position to be in,” he added.
North Tamworth’s innings was largely built on Michael Rixon’s 103.

On the same day, Old Boys opener Corey Sommers struck 107, for his maiden century, while Groth hammered a 95-ball 110 in the win over Old Boys.
Along with those tons, West Tamworth opener Daniel Collinson made 98 and Smith 96.
Groth said healthy team totals this season was “pretty good to see”. “There’s been some big scores and some big scores being chased down,” he said. “Yeah, I think it’s a positive thing for the competition.”
At Riverside 1 on Saturday, Wests will resume at 3-71 chasing Old Boys’ 306.
