Rooster’s five-eighth Jordan Sharpe will lead the club on the field next season, alongside father Geoff who will continue in his role as head coach.
Finishing the 2018 home and away season atop the Group 4 ladder, the Roosters were unable to capitalise on their good work, bundled out of the finals series in straight sets.
Geoff Sharpe said the added depth of a reserve grade team could be the key to the club going one step further in 2019.
“We had about 15 to 20 players sign on at our registration and Christmas day,” Sharpe said.
“That’s obviously a pretty pleasing result for us given that about six of those guys were new players to the club, while seven or eight of the others were existing players.
“We are also in talks with heaps of other guys and have received quite a few verbal commitments to play next year which is also pleasing.
“Overall there is a lot of work for us to do, but it is certainly a step in the right direction in terms of us fielding a reserve grade side next year.”

Sharpe said he was confident the club would retain most of its current players.
“It is a bit difficult to tell at the moment as there is still quite a lot of things up in the air, such as the season’s fixture, which clubs will field a reserve grade side, and if Manilla will renter the competition,” he said.
“I reckon we will know a lot more about player numbers and if we will have a reserve grade side in January, but things are certainly looking pretty good at this stage.
“There are quite a few guys who have let us know that they will make a decision about their playing futures after a bit more of a break in the off season.
“We will certainly be looking to have a big pre-season but at this stage it’s a bit early to tell when that will all kick off as there is still a lot to be set in stone and it is early days.
“There are plenty of opportunities out there for any players looking to play rugby league in 2019.
