Emergency services will rush to the airport on Tuesday at 10am where they will have to triage patients and coordinate their response.
It’s an opportunity to test how well emergency services and airport staff work together in a high stakes situation, Tamworth airport manager Julie Stewart said.
“We’re expecting to have all of our emergency services, Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, Rural Fire Service, airport staff and tenants such as BAE and the Australian Defence Force will be involved.
“We’ve had some minor emergencies in the past and by doing these exercises it helps make sure we have the best systems in place.

“We don’t want anyone to panic and think it’s a real emergency, but people need to understand that with aviation now there’s a lot of dangerous items that can be on board so we don’t want people to respond and help because they can be harmed.”
