The Tamworth gelding, trained by Craig Martin, gave nothing else a chance with Rachel King outstanding in the saddle.
“He was unlucky down there in his previous run,” Martin said.
“But we haven’t seen the best of him yet.”
“Rachel rode him a treat too, pushed Mack’s (Griffith) horse out of the way to take his run too and balanced up well to win by two lengths.”
“He has done well and I’ve always had a big opinion of him but he will have a let up now and concentrate on the March 10 Country Championship Qualifier at Tamworth.”
That 1400m qualifier will be his main aim now and Martin hopes to give his gelding a light preparation.
“One trial and a run or maybe two trials and a run before the Qualifier,” he said.
“Just back off him a bit and keep him ticking over.
“He’s got a bright future.
“That race is only 14 weeks away too, not that long. If he does race well and pulls up well he has plenty of options. There’s a Tamworth Cup and Grafton. He could even be a Kosciuszko representative.”
