The old teachers’ cottage, which is used for out-of-school-hours care, is not in line for any major refurbishment.
However, the Department of Education said it was “considering maintenance works” to the heritage building.
“The Department of Education reviews all its assets across the state to determine maintenance liabilities and opportunities, with funding allocated as required,” a spokesperson said.

“Maintenance work to the heritage teachers’ cottage is currently considered as part of the overall maintenance program but has not been further specified.
“The program is based on the highest need first and linked to educational outcomes.”
The spokesperson said the cottage had been built in 1877 and was heritage-listed.
“[It] had major additions in 1912, with subsequent minor additions and alterations.”
Tamworth Public School is set to have new buildings on two sides of the cottage as part of a multi-million dollar upgrade to cope with a rising population.
There will be a new two-storey classroom block on its north-eastern side and a new hall behind it.
Principal Chris Connor said the Brisbane Street frontage would be “sensitive to” the heritage appearance of the other buildings.
Work should start early next year and be finished in early 2020.
