The second-favourite heading in, the six-year-old was “very dominant” in the final race of the day – the Pryde’s Easifeed Class 1 Handicap (1400m).
“It’s as good a win as I’ve had for a while,” Morgan said.
After getting a nice run along the rails, Greg Ryan moved the Spinning World-Kowhai chestnut out heading into the turn and he scorched the field in the straight.
It gave the Tamworth trainer a double for the day, and saw him bookend the meeting after Anaita had won the opening race – the Kia Ora Stud Maiden Handicap (900m).
“It was a good drive home last night (Monday),” he said.
“To win at Scone is always good. It’s very good racing there.”
Anaita was having her second start for Morgan.
“She started her career in Sydney and wasn’t good enough,” he said.
“(First start) She just got beaten at Moree.”
Andrew Gibbons sat the brown mare about third before coming over the top of the field for a half-length win over the Simon Casey-trained Cash Factor.
“It was a good tough win,” Morgan said.
“She carried a fairly big weight (58kg) and didn’t have the easiest run.”
Morgan trains the four-year-old for Neil Werrett’s Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd – a senior part-owner of sprinting champion Black Caviar.
“It was good to get another winner for Mr Werrett,” he said.
He’ll look to take her to Gunnedah for the annual Christmas Hams meeting on December 8.
Moobi has only had six starts but has had some injury troubles.
He was off the track for 16 months after being accidentally kicked in the hock in 2017.
“He nearly died,” Morgan said.
“The owners nursed him back to full health.”
He resumed racing in September, and finished third and fifth in his two starts prior to Monday.
“He’ll go to Sydney now in three weeks for a Highway (handicap),” he said.
“He’s a really good horse. He’s a very good country horse.”
“I really feel the best is still ahead of him.
“Even though he’s six if he keeps progressing the way he is, he’s still got a couple of years racing ahead of him.”
Morgan has Keighley Sun nominated for the First National Real Estate/Peter Fox Memorial Maiden Plate at Inverell on Saturday, the gelding on Tuesday receiving 57.5kg, and Manabar, The Mont, Acnhois, who was a last start winner at Muswellbrook, and Road to Bordeaux for Sunday’s Quirindi meeting.
The seven-race TAB meeting drew 126 nominations, with nominations extended until 11am Wednesday morning in two races including the feature Commercial Hotel Werris Creek Summer Sprint (1200m).
Bendemeer trainer Jane Clement also enjoyed success at Scone with Petra Jewel a .2 of a length winner in the Emirates Park Class 3 Handicap (1100m).
The brown mare has only been unplaced in one of her seven starts, with Monday’s win following thirds her previous two starts.
