The coastal outfit were too good for the home side, chasing down Tamworth’s 158 with over 10 overs to spare.
“They probably bowled a bit better and batted better as far as getting to retirement,” Tamworth over-50s co-ordinator Richard Rowlings said.
“Too many of our blokes got starts and then got out which made it hard.”
The damage was done in the first session.
After a steady start with Phil Constable (19) and Dean Petty (7) putting on 27 for the first wicket and Wally Allen chipping in with 25 Tamworth fell to 6-82 at the change of innings (20 overs).
Mid North Coast in reply were 3-106 after their first 20.
Stephen Keys (36) led the way in Tamworth’s second dig with 36, and was their player of the match.
“He’s batted well the last couple of games,” Rowlings said.
Craig Salter also made 20 and Peter Annis-Brown 19, Rowlings noting that the visitors also took some good catches.
Petty (2-36) and Constable (2-23) topped the wickets for the home side, Steve Wilson, Roger Doughty, Andrew Stevenson and Eddie Davis also chiming in with a wicket.
Davis was playing his first game for the over-50s and was good in his second spell going for only three runs off his three overs.
“He’s interested in a bit more old boys stuff. He’ll be a good pick-up,” Rowlings said of the West Tamworth first grader.
They will have a chance to bounce back on Sunday when they take on Newcastle at Merewether.
