The long-running community event is hosted by the Gunnedah Ministers Fraternal and supported by the shires schools and numerous community groups including Gunnedah SES, Rotary West and the Rural Fire Service.
Fraternal president Scott Dunlop said the annual event was a chance to revive the towns spirits.
Its been a really tough year for us as a community with the effects of the drought and its good to be able to come together as a community for a happy time to celebrate the Christmas season together through carols, he said.
Its great that carols arent affected by the drought and its one of those events, which helps build community in Gunnedah.
The free annual event will once again be held in Wolseley Park, with entertainment to kick off at 6.30pm.
Gunnedah Shire Band, and Plains Pipes and Drums are among the local talent, which will entertain the crowds. Also set to hit the stage with musical numbers are St Xaviers Primary School, St Marys College, Mullaley Public School and Carinya Christian School.
The Rotary Club of Gunnedah West will feed the hungry hordes with sausage sangas and glowsticks will be available for purchase. Santa will also be making the rounds, with lolly bags for the kids.
Lots of different community groups work to make it a great night, Mr Dunlop said.
The popular fireworks display will light up Gunnedahs skies later in the evening.
I warmly encourage community to support carols as it has been doing in previous years, Mr Dunlop said.
If Carols in the Park is washed-out, it will be postponed until Sunday, December 9.
