This much: He travelled to England in the off-season for a wedding, which he combined with a brief stint playing for his old Yorkshire club, Heslerton, in the Scarborough Beckett League’s division one.
He is back at City United this season, after a highly successful 2017-18 season in which he made his Bolters and Tamworth War Veterans Cup debuts.
The ascent of the 23-year-old City United off-spinner, a handy batsman who debuted in first grade at age 13 with Hillgrove Colts in Armidale, continued when he made his Central North debut, at last month’s Country Championship, after playing for the Bolters again.
“It was a big privilege to even get nominated to play in it [the Country Championship],” he said. “And to be able to receive my first red cap was a great privilege and honour, to play alongside some of country cricket’s best players.”
On Sunday he will play for Tamworth in their War Veterans Cup season-opener against Armidale at No.1 Oval.

This much: He was not even told he had been selected for Tamworth (at least not by Friday morning, any way) because Tamworth cricket boss Ben Middlebrook had asked him during the week if he was right to play, Brennan said he was, and, presumably, no more confirmation was needed.
At a time when it can be hard to get players to commit to rep cricket, Brennan cannot get enough of the game.
“I can’t wait [to play],” he said. “It’ good to be back amongst it; we had a few washouts. So it’s good to just get some cricket under the belt now.”
Brennan will be in cricketing nirvana this weekend – with the War Veterans Cup clash preceded by the start of City United’s two-day match against West Tamworth at Riverside 1 on Saturday.
