Fresh out of a Sydney Theatre Company scholarship workshop, the Year 12 student said its only cemented her career choice.
“I’m not the best at acting but I really love performing because I’m a musician, because I have stage fright I thought backstage would be cool – I’ve given it a crack and enjoyed it,” she said.
“My perspective changed dramatically because I thought putting a show together was a short process but turns out it’s a very long process – a lot of hard work goes into it and the amount of people needed is shocking.”
The five day workshop gave students an opportunity to try different areas of theatre and speak with a panel of professionals about what goes into their day jobs.
The Sydney Theatre company hosted 25 high school students from across the state to take part in Work Experience Week.
For the first time a number of scholarships were given to students in regional NSW.
The students looked at programming, direction, set and costume design, marketing and corporate sponsorship.

Surprisingly, marketing is where Jordann said she thinks she will shine most.
“I would really like to be at the Sydney Theatre Company and be graphic designer for programs and posters as my career,” she said.
“It was very inspiring, they were really nice especially considering we’re taking over their jobs hopefully - they let us know how it all worked and it was very inspirational.”
The week finished with a group presentation where students pitched concept ideas for a production of Accidental Death of an Anarchist.
