The intense line of storms saw thunder, lightning, heavy rain and hail hit parts of the city, and surrounding areas.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Tamworth Airport received 13mm of rain to 7pm on Wednesday.
The thunderstorm saw the cancellation of local sports like oz-tag and saw locals ducking for cover to escape the heavy rain and lightning strikes.
There were reports of hail in and around the Werris Creek area, and Essential Energy reported power outages in the Lake Keepit, Bithramere, Westdale and Wallamore areas.
