A 24-year-old man, who was shot in the thigh in the early hours of Thursday, has been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
Armidale detectives are leading the case to find the two men behind the shooting, which officers have been told happened as the victim walked along Niagara Street about 2am.
The victim, an Armidale local, was taken to Armidale hospital, after he made his way to the nearby service station in Queen Elizabeth Drive, where emergency services were alerted.
“The victim has undergone surgery to remove the bullet from his leg and that has been seized for forensic examination,” Detective Inspector Ann Joy told Fairfax Media.
“That investigation is ongoing and police have conducted a search of the immediate area of where the shooting allegedly occurred, gather CCTV footage and examined the content of that.”
