A man is in a stable condition in hospital after a shooting in Armidale on Friday morning.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a service station on Queen Elizabeth Drive at 2am after reports a 24-year-old man had been shot in the thigh.
Police believe the man was walking along Niagara Street, Armidale, when he was approached by two men.
It is then believed one of the two men pulled out a gun and shot the 24-year-old in the thigh before fleeing the scene.

The wounded man then made his way to the service station where police and ambulance crews were called.
From there the 24-year-old was transported to Armidale Hospital for treatment.
He remains in a stable condition.
