Gunnedah’s Adam McGuirk doubled up on his opening day half-century when the Northern NSW Pathway Challenge continued in Tamworth on Monday.
McGuirk plundered an unbeaten century as his Central North Navy side defeated North Coast Green in the first of their two Twenty20s for the day.
His 68-ball 110no, which included six fours laid the platform for the home side to post an imposing 3-187 from their 20 overs.
North Coast could only muster 154 in reply, Henry Harris top-scoring with 42 as Jock Vivers (3-3) and Conrad George (2-26) led the Navy charge with the ball.
Navy then accounted for North Coast Gold, successfully defending 7-134.
Central North Red made a promising start to the day chasing down North Coast Gold’s 5-122 two wickets down.
Jesse Barnwell anchored North Coast’s innings with 48 before Shannon Threlfo made 47 and Isaac Barry 35 for the Red.
They then fell just short against North Coast Green despite a five-star performance with the ball from Barry.
He claimed 5-30 as the Red dismissed North Coast for 133, Harris again one of the main contributors hitting 30 while Harrison Clarke scored 46.
Despite the efforts of Jacob Page (59) the Red were 9-131 at the end of their 20 overs.
The under-16s sides also played two Twenty20s.
Jye Woodger was outstanding for Mid North Coast against Far North Coast, smacking 77 as they amassed 6-173 and then taking 4-18 to restrict Far North Coast to 6-142.
Benji Marshall led the way with the bat for Northern Inland Black against Hunter Valley, his 42 helping them to 9-104.
Hunter Valley though reached the target with four wickets and two overs to spare.
Joey Mead (2-14) and Kieran Wicks (2-20) were the pick of the Black bowlers.
Northern Inland Gold’s bowlers worked North Coast over early in their first game.
They had them 4-15 at one stage but led by Harry McMillan (57) the coastal side recovered to post a competitive 9-128.
The Gold made 8-120 in reply, Cotter Litchfield hitting 36 and Alex Portass 28no.
They fared better in their second game, Dylan Smith making 35, before Ryan Simpson (48no) and Callum Henry (23no) finished off the job as the Gold chased Mid North Coast’s 6-110 in 17.5 overs and only two wickets down.
Hunter Valley made it two from two for the day when, on the back of Alex McNeill’s unbeaten 69 they passed North Coast’s 6-114 with four balls to spare.
Will Bailey set North Coast’s innings up with 51 at the top of the order.
