For years local residents have voiced complaints about a lack of family friendly New Year’s events, with Tamworth council tending to keep their powder dry for the Festival, however the Manilla Minor League Club have already lined up the fire works, and much more.
The club have already laid out over $7000 to book the fireworks, a mechanical bull, a jumping castle, mini golf, the monkey maze, a petting zoo and face painting, while there will also be a wife carrying and goal kicking competition, as well as a ute show.
Secretary Jessi Ride said that the committee is made up of seven committed parents who “grew up locally and now have kids growing up here that have never had anything to do for New Year’s.”
“We want it to become our big fundraiser for the year – it might not make much of a profit this year, but we really want to get the ball rolling and are hoping to make it a community event into the future,” she said.
“That is why we are reaching out for more community involvement.”

The committee are calling out for any individuals, businesses or organisations who would be able to either sponsor, donate or volunteer to the event.
“We are trying to get some dodgem cars and other entertainment, but we need to raise some more funds,” Ms Ride said.
“Families go away every New Year’s for things like this, but now they can stay here. Everybody we have spoken to loves the idea, we just need a little bit more help.”
The event will run from 4pm until the fireworks at 9pm, with entry a gold coin donation.
“We really want to get as many families down there as possible for a great afternoon of fun,” Ms Ride said.
The committee also wanted to add that all the local pubs and clubs will have live entertainment going after the show and into the night for the big kids.
