A shopping experience that’s easy on the eyes and ears will be the aim when the Coles stores of Tamworth Central, Gunnedah and Tenterfield start offering Quiet Hour from tomorrow.

The low-sensory session will be held on Tuesdays mornings with reduced lighting; no radio or PA announcements; scanners and registers on their lowest volume setting; no trolley collections; and extra team members on hand.
Overall, Quiet Hour will be introduced to 173 more stores nationwide after trials and a smaller roll-out, including at Inverell from November 2017.

Coles state general manager Reagan Lauder said the bigger roll-out was based on “overwhelmingly positive customer feedback”.
“We’ve listened to our customers, and have worked hard to make our stores more welcoming and responsive to the needs of the local communities in which we operate,” she said.
In August 2017, Coles partnered with Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) to trial Quiet Hour at two Victorian stores to support customers who are, or have family members, on the autism spectrum.
- Quiet Hour will be on Tuesdays from 10.30am to 11.30am.
