A number of local organisation’s teamed-up to present a family fun day to highlight the plight of Australia’s threatened species.
“We have held this event for the past two years at the Tamworth Marsupial Park with numbers increasing each year and kids really enjoying themselves,” North West Local Land Service senior officer Angela Baker said.

“We are pleased to be able to hold an event like this at the park, the volunteers do an amazing job looking after their animals and maintaining the park for the community.”
The land service was joined by local Landcare, bird-watching representatives and local ecologist Phil Spark.
Mr Spark’s presentation gave the kids a chance to get up a close to some native turtles, lizards, frogs, microbats and snakes.
The event was funded by the NSW government’s Catchment Action plan and the Australian government’s national Landcare programme.
