Wests CEO Rod Laing said that while the organisation were always going to do more than just host the concert, the early donation was a good way of clearing up a few questions and queries coming from the public.
“A lot of people were asking what and where the money was going to, so the board decided to pour the $30,000 early to kick-start the campaign,” he said.
“The money has gone to Rural Aid, and will be used to by fodder for stock – feed is obviously very high on the agenda for farmers at the moment.
“It is the same cause, same fund, same charity as the concert.”

Rural Aid is the organisation behind the Buy a Bale campaign, and while it is a nationwide organisation WEG did put in a special request for the initial donation.
“We sent a request that the money be spent on farmers in the New England and North West, and they were happy to do that,” Mr Laing said.
“The funds raised from the concert will be spent statewide though – this concert is about the entire state – it is pretty grim.”
Over the years Tamworth locals have gained a reputation for leaving ticket purchases to major events late, and Mr Laing hopes not to see a repeat of the Tigers and Knights NRL game earlier in the season which sold out, leaving many locals on the outside of the fence.
