The 35-year-old woman managed to snatch the bolt cutters and defend herself from the offenders who forced their way into the Phoenix Lane house about 9pm.
New England Detective Inspector Ann Joy told Fairfax Media the woman went to investigate and opened the front door after hearing glass smash.
“Three male offenders have knocked the victim over as they forced their way in through the door,” she said.
There has been a physical altercation and they have swung what is described as a large pair of bolt cutters towards the victim and she has managed to disarm them and defend herself.

The trio of men fled empty-handed, and miraculously the woman wasn’t injured.
