Perched outside Kmart, every few years the name of the centre changes, but her aim stays the same.
To raise as much money for cancer research as possible.
”I am a survivor, I’ve lost three of my siblings, my husband has lost a sister, I have a sister-in-law who’s a survivor and one of my husband’s nieces passed away,” Mrs Rock said.
“So it’s extremely close to my heart.”
Last year the Cancer Council invested $65 million into life-saving cancer research.
This year, the slogan is ‘This daffodil gives us hope for a cancer-free future’ and all money raised will go to cancer research.

As a volunteer, Mrs Rock sees cancer patients when they’re feeling most vulnerable.
The hope that new research brings is undeniable, she said.
“I do a lot of volunteering with cancer patients and I have found with research the treatment is so much better than what it used to be and a lot more good stories,” she said.
“It’s not always doom and gloom which is a big advancement over the years how it has improved.
“Cancer patients are so much more lucky now than years back because there’s a lot of help and things available which were never around before.”
Daffodil Day is on Friday August 24 and stalls will be held in Tamworth at Centrepoint Plaza, Northgate Shopping Centre, Ray Walsh House, Cancer Council office, Shopping World, Tamworth Square and Tamworth Gardens Retirement Estate.
