A MAN accused of robbing a South Tamworth shop has been refused bail in court after police successfully argued he was an unacceptable risk to the community if released.

Jason Jordan Trindall is charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.
The 25-year-old appeared via video link in Tamworth Local Court this week from Kariong Correctional Centre and lodged a fresh bid for bail, to go and live with family on the Central Coast.
But Magistrate Julie Soars said “I have to refuse you bail”, telling the court the case against him was a “strong” one.
“A strong prosecution case, previous alleged breaches of bail and failure to report in accordance with obligations,” she said.
“I find the risk cannot be mitigated.”
Police allege Trindall grabbed a 62-year-old shopkeeper during the robbery, about 5.25pm on May 21 at the Hillvue Superette, before stealing the cash register and its contents.
He was arrested by Oxley detectives two days after and has been in custody ever since.

Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe said she had “a copy of the brief” but the court heard prosecutors needed six weeks to consider the charge.
“More time is needed in terms of charge certification,” Sergeant Rob Baillie told the court.
Trindall – who was denied bail during a previous application in May – relied on a “change in circumstances” to lodge the fresh bid for release.
“That change being there is now an address outside of Tamworth,” Ms McAuliffe said, adding her client would not come to the city, unless for court, and report to police.
But Sergeant Baillie said “in a nutshell”, police had “real concerns of the protection of the community ... whether he's living in Tamworth or living on the Central Coast”.
He told the court Trindall “has a lengthy record”, was on a bond, and the alleged victim lived in Tamworth.
The court heard the “strong prosecution case” included new pieces of evidence, which cannot be reported for legal reasons but “will be tested”.
Two teenage boys, 13 and 17, arrested in police raids in Coledale remain before the court on charges of robbery in company.
Trindall was denied bail and will return to court in September.
