The schools’ junior girls defeated Oxley 2-1 while the senior girls were victorious over Peel 3-1.
Many of that side were stepping up from the junior girls side that finished second in the state last year.
Farrer triumphed over Oxley 3-1 in the junior boys, while Oxley defeated Peel 3-1 in the open boys, the winning sides progressing to the State Championships in Sydney in September.
Monique Corbett was named the most valuable player of the junior girls grand final, Cody Parry the junior boys, Jada Taylor the senior girls and Kobe Bone the senior boys.
38 teams from across Tamworth, as well as Quirindi, participated in what was the biggest gala day in the 10 or so years it has been run.
Tamworth Junior Oztag coordinator Katrina Davis attributed the popularity to a few reasons.
“I think that the numbers are increasing in the local competitions, high schools are playing it more in schools,” Davis said, adding that the rep numbers have also increased, which has improved their ability and skills.
The introduction of the State Championships last year has also provided a pathway from the gala day.
