Make A Wish Foundation: Tamworth's Ray Pratley and Samantha Bellamy raise funds for charity

Now, local duo Samantha Bellamy and Ray Pratley are taking up the cause to raise funds for the Make A Wish foundation.

The charity transforms the lives of sick kids by granting wishes big and small.

“We’re at a point in our lives where I’ve been in the music industry, believe it or not, for over 30 years and we want to give something back,” Mr Pratley said.

“We’ve had a lot given to us from the music industry, so it’s our turn now to support back.”

Straying from their country passion, the pair have written and recorded a new pop single called Make A Wish Come True.

The couple will tour around Australia for the next six months to raise funds, with all proceeds from the purchase of the song going to Make A Wish Australia.

Both have been touched by childhood illness, Mr Pratley’s own child was sick when she was young and Ms Bellamy lost her sister to Melanoma at just 17 years old.

“They didn’t have Make a Wish back then but I wish they did,” Ms Bellamy said.

“We were always intending to go away for six months and do something with our music so we decided to do something good with it.

“Make A Wish helps the families and it gives the kids something to look forward to during their treatment.”

The charity has been granting wishes in Australia since 1985 and since then have made more than 8500 wishes come true for seriously ill children.

Without government funding, the foundation relies on people like Ms Bellamy and Mr Pratley raising funds to help make wishes come true.

The pair will travel for the next six months and return to Tamworth for a finale concert at The Capitol Theatre.

The song, Make A Wish Come True, is available for purchase on Itunes and GooglePlay for just $1.69.

”We’re trying to raise $10,000, it doesn’t sound like much but it all goes straight to Make A Wish and if everyone chips in it adds up,” Mr Pratley said.

The tour kicks off from Tamworth on Wednesday.
