This Sunday, August 5, the Tamworth Volunteer Support Group is hosting a charity closet clear out sale, at the Tamworth Jockey Club.
The group is looking for people with too many clothes and too little space to put their hand up to be a vendor, and for the city’s bargain hunters to support a good cause.
Vendors pay just $30 for a table and pocket whatever they make on the day, while those coming through the gate in search of a steal pay $5.
The money raised will go towards ensuring no one ever has to pay for the services of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s regional volunteers coordinator Kim Newling got the idea from the Coonabarabran support group, which had successfully run closet clear outs over the last two years.
“There will be everything from dresses and shoes, to ties and hats,” Ms Newling said.
“If anyone doesn’t want to take their left over stuff home, we’re organising some local charities to give them to.”
Ms Newling encouraged everyone to bring plenty of cash – one to support a good cause, and also because there won’t be any EFTOS available.
Gates open from 10am to 2pm, with vendors welcome to set up at 9am. Anyone interested in becoming a vendor can contact Ms Newling on 0400 667 787.
