ANOTHER victim of what’s being called the worst drought in more than a century, the Quirindi show has been cancelled.

Due to be held in September, the show will be replaced this year with a family fun day.
A show society spokesperson said it had been a “very difficult decision”, but the committee hoped to have better weather conditions and a “bigger and brighter” show in 2019.
Liverpool Plains shire mayor Andrew Hope said he was “not surprised” at the news.
“They won’t be able to get livestock and feed, and obviously the grounds are pretty dry,” Cr Hope said.

“We’re upset for them but can understand they’ve had to make this decision.”
Cr Hope said the council donated $5000 every year to the show society for the event, and this would “absolutely” now go into the family fun day instead.
“It will probably be good for people in this drought to come and relieve the pressures for a day or two with the kids,” he said.
“Things are very tough on the land at the moment.”
