A MAN has fronted court for the first time accused of menacing driving after a crash that destroyed a $10,000 racing bike in Armidale.

James Victor Beard is charged with knowingly drive vehicle in a manner that menaces other and drive recklessly or furiously or in a speed or manner dangerous.
He appeared in Armidale Local Court on Monday but did not enter pleas to the two charges.
Magistrate Michael Holmes adjourned the charges to October, where Beard is expected to enter pleas.

He was charged after an investigation by New England police into an incident on Bundarra Road on May 20.
Police allege Beard, 29, was driving in a menacing manner and collided with the teenager riding his bike, about 1.30pm.
The 19-year-old Armidale cyclist escaped serious injury and was treated at the scene for cuts and abrasions, but was not taken to hospital.
In the collision with the Jeep four-wheel-drive, the teen’s $10,000 Lapierre road bike was written off.
Following the investigation, Beard was issued a court attendance notice.
